The project centered on the thoughtful renovation of an Edwardian home in San Francisco, with the primary goal of creating a new master suite that balances historic charm with modern livability. The home’s original character—ornate trim, ceiling medallions, and period detailing—was selectively preserved and restored, grounding the space in its early 20th-century roots. At the same time, the renovation introduces a refreshed architectural language marked by warmth, texture, and light. A carefully curated material palette, featuring natural woods, soft textiles, and handcrafted finishes, brings a sense of depth and calm to the interiors. Custom cabinetry, designed with subtle detailing and fine craftsmanship, adds both functionality and elegance, seamlessly integrating storage into the architectural flow. New openings and skylights introduce natural light in surprising ways, making the space feel open and serene without sacrificing intimacy. The result is a master suite that feels timeless yet distinctly contemporary—a sanctuary that honors the past while embracing the needs of modern life. This project is a study in balance: preserving the best of the old while welcoming the possibilities of the new.
